Cyberspace Limited, a pioneer in Nigeria’s ICT landscape, has announced the celebration of its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of consistent innovation, digital transformation, and service excellence.

Established in 1995 as a dial-up Internet Service Provider, the company has evolved into a leading systems integration powerhouse, delivering mission-critical connectivity and enterprise solutions across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

From modest beginnings, Cyberspace has grown to become a trusted provider of connectivity services to major Nigerian banks, government institutions, high-net-worth individuals, and corporate organisations, deploying best-of-breed technologies and delivering robust ICT solutions that power business operations nationwide.

The 30th anniversary celebration will take place on Friday, 25 July 2025, at The Anthonia Hall, Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos, and will be attended by key stakeholders, longstanding partners, clients, industry regulators, and friends of the company.

Speaking during a media briefing held at the company’s headquarters in Lagos, Managing Director of Cyberspace Limited, Engr. Joe Onwubuya, reflected on the company’s three-decade journey and its strategic direction for the future.

He said, “This 30th anniversary is not just a celebration of longevity, but a reflection of resilience, innovation, and strategic foresight. As we look to the future, our focus remains on enabling Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda through smart, scalable solutions in connectivity, cybersecurity, enterprise software, fintech, and cloud services. We appreciate the pivotal role played by the Nigerian Communications Commission, whose regulatory support has made much of our success possible.”

Onwubuya also announced the successful spin-off of two of the company’s former Strategic Business Units, CyberPay and CyberCloud, into independent entities now serving the fintech and cloud computing needs of businesses across Nigeria and beyond. These strategic offshoots are part of Cyberspace’s long-term vision to create specialised, impactful technology firms that cater for the growing demand for secure, digital financial services and scalable cloud infrastructure.

In recognising the people behind the brand, Engr. Onwubuya expressed profound gratitude to the founder of Cyberspace Limited, Jim Ovia, CFR, stating, “Dr. Jim Ovia’s legendary vision, unwavering support, and exemplary leadership have been instrumental to our growth. His passion for excellence and innovation continues to inspire us all.”

He further acknowledged the contributions of current and former staff, original equipment manufacturer partners, and clients across the country, while attributing the company’s overall success to divine guidance. “We remain grateful to God, the Giver of Life, for the journey so far,” he said.

Over the years, Cyberspace has played a pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s digital infrastructure through several landmark achievements. One of its most notable contributions is the deployment of the first and still the largest computer-based testing platform in Nigeria for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. This revolutionary project transformed the country’s examination process and remains a benchmark model for other examination bodies across Africa.

Cyberspace also developed and implemented a comprehensive Examination Integrity System for the National Open University of Nigeria, a solution that successfully eliminated examination malpractice and helped preserve academic standards in the institution.

In the education sector, Cyberspace has built and deployed scalable Learning Management Systems for top-tier educational institutions and corporate organisations, supporting digital learning, training management, and multi-platform knowledge delivery.

In addition, the company has designed and implemented custom software and business applications for clients in diverse sectors. These solutions include web-based and mobile workflow automation tools, mobile service delivery platforms, and tailored enterprise resource solutions, all developed to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses.

Another area of significant impact is in the banking sector, where Cyberspace has successfully deployed and currently supports enterprise, customer relationship management solutions for major banks in Nigeria. These platforms have improved operational efficiency, data management, and customer engagement, helping financial institutions to deliver better value to their clients.

As Cyberspace Limited celebrates this milestone, it is looking ahead to the future with a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened by its legacy of innovation and driven by a clear mission to build technology solutions that empower people, businesses, and institutions.

The company’s journey from a start-up ISP to a multi-vertical digital solutions provider is a reflection of what is possible through visionary leadership, strong partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to service.

Cyberspace said it remains poised to play an even more impactful role in Nigeria’s digital transformation, as it leverages its experience, expertise, and customer-centric philosophy to deliver value in the decades to come.
