Cursor Secures $900 Million Funding, Valued at $9 Billion

Published 1 week ago1 minute read

Cursor, a leading AI-driven programming tool, has captured significant investor interest, securing $900 million in a new funding round led by Thrive Capital. This round also saw participation from top venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Accel, elevating the valuation of Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, to $9 billion.

Earlier this year, Cursor raised $105 million at a $2.5 billion valuation, also backed by Thrive and a16z. The surge in investment reflects the growing demand for AI-powered programming startups. In February, Windsurf was reportedly in talks for a $3 billion funding round, and last month, OpenAI was rumored to be considering an acquisition at a similar valuation.
