Crystal Palace Captain Marc Guehi Rejects New Deal, Ignites Major Transfer Battle

The global football transfer market is currently abuzz with intense competition for several key players across Europe, as clubs strategize their squads for upcoming seasons. Prominent defenders like Marc Guéhi and Federico Dimarco are at the center of significant transfer speculation, while attacking talents and promising youngsters also attract substantial interest from top-tier teams.
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi has emerged as one of the most sought-after talents. The 25-year-old England international has informed Crystal Palace that he will not sign a new contract, signaling his intent to depart next year. His current deal expires at the end of the season, prompting Palace to consider selling him in the January transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race for his signature, with Bayern particularly keen to secure him “at the first opportunity.” Despite the keen interest, Palace is expected to demand a significant fee for the highly-rated defender.
In Italy, Internazionale full-back Federico Dimarco has garnered admirers at Manchester United, with manager Ruben Amorim reportedly a huge fan. Dimarco, whose contract with Inter expires in 2027, has been in exceptional form this season, contributing two goals and three assists in his first six Serie A matches. However, Manchester United may face a challenge in securing his services, as the dynamic left-back has expressed a desire to conclude his career at Inter, amid ongoing discussions for a bumper contract extension.
Meanwhile, winger Jack Grealish could be available to Everton for under £50 million next summer, according to reports. Despite a strong start to his tenure on Merseyside, it is believed his transfer value may depreciate over the course of the season, potentially aiding Everton in a permanent move. Grealish, 30, has already notched four assists in seven matches this season, rediscovering his best form and presenting a selection headache for the national team.
Real Madrid is closely monitoring Mexico's Under-20 World Cup star Gilberto Mora. The 17-year-old, who plays for Tijuana, impressed significantly at the under-20 tournament, notably scoring a brace against Spain. Madrid aims to be well-positioned for a future transfer if Mora continues to excel, particularly with an eye on his performance at the 2026 World Cup. Barcelona has also received positive scouting reports on Mora, indicating a potential rivalry for his signature.
Bayern Munich is preparing to open talks with midfielder Leon Goretzka regarding a new contract. The 30-year-old Germany international's current deal is set to expire next summer, raising the possibility of him becoming a free agent if an agreement is not reached at the Allianz Arena. Goretzka, who is in his eighth season with Bayern, has started five Bundesliga matches for the defending champions this season.
Beyond these primary targets, several other notable transfer rumors are circulating. Liverpool views Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck as a potential long-term replacement for Virgil Van Dijk, although they face stiff competition from Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Juventus is monitoring Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, while Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton is reportedly “at the very top” of Manchester United's midfield shortlist. Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız is also attracting interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United. Eintracht Frankfurt is keeping a close eye on Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika, potentially as a successor to Hugo Larsson. Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is being monitored by several clubs after signing with a new agency ahead of a potential 2026 transfer. Conversely, Sunderland will not revive their interest in Bologna defender Jhon Lucumí. Olympiacos plans to extend centre-back Lorenzo Pirola's contract, and a battle is brewing between RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt for Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck, who carries a €40 million price tag. Finally, Graham Potter is reportedly nearing an agreement to become the new head coach of the Sweden national team, on an initial short-term deal tasked with guiding them to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
