The Eagles lift their first major trophy, preventing City from their attempt of winning the cup for second time in three years.

Eze put Palace in front on 16 minutes after City had dominated early stages. Palace on the counter attack and Jean-Philippe Mateta found Daniel Munoz out wide, sprinted down the right-hand side and squared to Eberechi Eze, who slotted home.

Then Marmoush saw his penalty saved after Henderson escaped a red card following a VAR check, which said: “The direction in which Erling Haaland was going made it possible, but not an obvious goal scoring opportunity.”

On 59 minutes, Daniel Munoz thought he made it 2-0. The ball came off Daniel Munoz and deflected off Ismaila Sarr, Stefan Ortega saved, then parried it straight into the path of Munoz, who netted home. it was ruled out with Ismaïla Sarr was offside and the ball deflected off him.

Man City kept pushing on for an equaliser, but Palace held firm to win their first major trophy and a place in Europe for the first time ever.

Crystal Palace mock Man City after FA Cup Final win with Pep Guardiola riled up by Dean Henderson

: Crystal Palace have played absolutely fantastic today! They deserve the win! #FACupFinal

: Always amazing to see a new side win a major trophy instead of seeing a Big 6 side in the Premier League constantly winning it 👏

: I’m so buzzing for @CPFC! Couldn’t happen to a better club or fanbase!!!

: Fair play to Crystal Palace! Fully deserved winners of the FA Cup. They only conceded one goal during their entire run. Their first major trophy in the club’s history and you can see how much it means. A victory for football, which has become far too homogeneous. #FACup #cpfc

: Don’t ever tell me this cup is dead! What a moment for Crystal Palace!! I’m so glad a “big” club hasn’t won this year! After scrapping replays, not one of the teams they scrapped them for has gained anything! The FA Cup has brought it’s own karma around!!

: Well done Palace 👏🦅 Superb fans, superb effort from all, proper football club!!! 👊👊

: Football has healed. Well in Palace! #FACup

: Football is back. My late Uncle Jimmy was a Palace fan and I’m delighted for them. This is what football is about.

: Chuffed to bits for another great, long standing football club & their fans breaking their trophy drought. Enjoy the moment 🏆👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

: If this isn’t proof anything can happen in football, what is? Got to have confidence for Saturday

: If you think finishing 4th or 5th in the league is better than this, then you don’t understand football👍

: Absolutely over the moon for Palace, this is what the FA Cup is about 🥹 I know this ruins our chances of European football but, honestly, i’m okay with it 🫶

: Fair play. No other set of fans deserve it then these lot. Enjoy that final winning feeling.

: Chuffed for them, could really see what it meant to the fan base running up to the final whistle, not a phone in sight. Love it when a new club breaks the cycle. Well in Palace 👏 #FaCup #Cpfc

: You have to give palace the credit they deserve, they played very well. However, I have no idea how Henderson was not sent off for that handball. That would have completely changed the game #cpfc #MCFC #FACup #Henderson

: Congratulations to #CPFC on the FA cup win. This season is how it should be. #NUFC league cup, CPFC Fa cup, Villa, Forest, NUFC pushing for CL. Why should it be the same 6 clubs getting the spoils every season. Means more for the palace fans than it ever would the city fans.

: Football won today. Well done Crystal Palace 👏 Proper club and fans. Made up for them #CPFC #NFFC

@WolvesFirst: Great to see a win mean so much to a set of supporters and players alike. The “rest” can still win trophies and this is what football should be about.

@ryanhcpfc: I have followed Palace for 35 years and I can’t describe how happy I am! Never in a million years did I ever actually think I would ever see us win a trophy in my lifetime! Along with my wedding and the birth of my 2 children this is one of the best days of my life!! #cpfc
