Crisis at Anfield: Liverpool's Title Hopes Fading with Four Straight Defeats!

Liverpool, a team that effortlessly claimed the league title last season, is currently experiencing a significant downturn in form, marked by four consecutive defeats. This string of losses has seen them slip to fourth in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Arsenal by four points. The club appears vulnerable across all departments: defensive frailties are evident, the midfield seems lethargic, and the attack lacks its usual potency.
Adding to the challenges is manager Arne Slot's apparent struggle to identify his optimal starting eleven, despite a substantial investment of almost £450 million in new talent. This dilemma was highlighted during their recent 2-1 defeat by Manchester United at Anfield, where high-profile summer signings Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Jeremie Frimpong, who collectively cost £214.5 million, all started the match on the substitutes' bench.
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock commented on this situation on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club, stating, "Slot has a dilemma at the moment about how he fits these players in. It's not always the price tag of a player, or the name of a player, that suits a team. We are seeing that with Thomas Tuchel at England." As Liverpool faces the prospect of a fifth consecutive defeat for the first time since 1953, BBC Sport has identified key questions that Slot must urgently address to reverse the team's fortunes.
