In an with JoyNews on Monday, June 30, Professor Bonnie warned that the resurgence of COVID-19 was not confined to the University of Ghana or its surrounding areas but it is being reported in various parts of the country.
“It is not a localised resurgence. In fact, we have other regions reporting,” he said. “So, if the university has come out with a circular cautioning the community in the university and its environs, it’s not just for them. I think the nation should take it up — everybody, especially during this time of the year.”
He added that "COVID is more or less now living with us, so it's more or less like endemic. From February, we had a little spike, not too much… then somewhere in May, we started getting cases from other regions: Eastern Region, Greater Accra (some parts outside the university district), Volta Region, and Ashanti Region. So we have had cases from all these regions."
