Coinbase's Bold Move: Five Crypto Tokens Face Delisting After Major Shakeup!
Coinbase has announced significant updates to its platform, including the disabling of trading support for five crypto tokens and several non-USD trading pairs to enhance market health. Simultaneously, the exchange is expanding its offerings with new BRENT and WTI oil perpetual futures, along with upcoming US500 Equity Index futures and expanded perpetual futures for Australian wholesale customers.
Major cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has recently implemented a series of significant adjustments to its trading platform, affecting various crypto tokens and introducing new financial products. In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on August 7, 2026, Coinbase confirmed the disabling of trading support for five specific crypto tokens: Idex (IDEX), Loopring (LRC), Omni Network (OMNI), Pirate Nation (PIRATE), and StaFi (FIS). This suspension applies across Coinbase's Simple and Advanced Trade platforms, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime. Crucially, while trading has been halted, holders of these tokens will retain full access to their funds and the ability to withdraw them at any time.
These changes follow earlier actions taken by Coinbase this week, which included the suspension of trading for six non-USD trading pairs. The affected markets were LSETH-ETH, MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT, and CRO-USDT. Trading for these pairs was suspended across Coinbase Exchange, Advanced Trade, and Coinbase Prime. Coinbase stated that these decisions are part of its regular market monitoring efforts, aimed at improving overall market health and consolidating liquidity on its exchange.
Beyond suspensions, Coinbase is also actively expanding its product offerings. This week, the platform announced the addition of support for BRENT and WTI oil perpetual futures. Furthermore, other August announcements reveal the launch of perpetual futures for wholesale customers in Australia, which went live on August 6. This new service allows Australian clients to trade with leverage on over 150 cryptocurrencies and access diverse collateral options, with more than 40 assets supported.
Looking ahead, Coinbase has outlined further developments for August. On August 17, US500 Equity Index perp-style futures are slated to arrive on the platform, designed to provide perp-style exposure to the entire US large-cap economy through Coinbase derivatives. Concurrently, trading for AZTEC (AZTEC-PERP) perpetual futures will be suspended on Coinbase on or around August 17, 2026, at 13:00 UTC. Any remaining open positions for AZTEC-PERP will be automatically settled at the time of suspension, with the final settlement price calculated as the average index price over the 60 minutes prior to the trading halt, and the funding rate set to zero for the final funding period.
