Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has said there will be no safe haven for those who threaten the peace and security of the state.
The Governor made the statement while commending the Department of State Services (DSS) for its swift and courageous rescue of two kidnapped Catholic priests — Rev. Fathers Matthew David Dusami and Abraham Samman — who were abducted from their residence at a convent in Gweda Mallam, Numan Local Government Area, in February 2025.
Governor Fintiri described it as “a testament to the professionalism and effectiveness of our security operatives.”
“We are grateful to the Director General of the DSS and the Adamawa State Command for this gallant operation,” Fintiri said. “Let it be clear — we will not spare anybody found wanting, no matter who you are. Criminals must know that Adamawa is not a playground for their activities.”
The governor lauded the arrest of the suspect, Tahamado Jonathan Damien, a member of the Church, noting that the rule of law will take its course.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to securing lives and property, Fintiri emphasised the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration among security agencies.
“The synergy among the DSS, Police, Armed Forces, and other stakeholders will continue to boost the confidence of residents and potential investors. Peace and security are non-negotiable pillars for development,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his resolve to create a safe environment where communities thrive and criminals are relentlessly pursued.
