Now, more than two decades later, Duff has finally confirmed the long-held suspicion. In an episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy, released on Wednesday, February 25, Duff openly admitted that her presence on the red carpet was “absolutely” an attempt to provoke Lohan.

Reflecting on the event, Duff told host Alex Cooper, “Yeah, I was a teenager!”

She elaborated that she was around 15 or 16 years old at the time and was invited by her A Cinderella Story co-star, Chad Michael Murray.

Duff recalled Murray suggesting she join him, and she agreed, stating, “I was like, ‘Mm-hmm. Probably I should.’”

She acknowledged that she wasn’t trying to “start any more stuff” but highlighted her youth and the context of the invitation.

The rivalry between Duff and Lohan was one of the most prominent celebrity feuds of the early 2000s, largely fueled by their shared romantic involvement with pop star Aaron Carter.

Following Duff’s appearance at the Freaky Friday premiere, Lohan reportedly retaliated by attending Duff’s Cheaper by the Dozen premiere just a few months later.

Duff stated on the podcast that she was not surprised by Lohan’s reciprocal action, describing Lohan as her “childhood feud, like, nemesis.”

Despite the past animosity, Duff shared that she has since reconciled with Lohan. She recounted an instance at a club where Lohan approached her and asked, “Are we good?” To which Duff responded, “We’re good,” leading them to take a shot together.

Duff, who recently released her new album,Luck … or Something, last week, expressed that after so many years, the feud is no longer a significant concern, stating, “Who cares?”
