Chicago Sky Had Words for Angel Reese's WNBA All-Star Captain

Published 3 days ago2 minute read

Through 17 games of the WNBA season, last year's No. 7 overall pick has reminded everyone why she remains one of the faces of women's basketball.

In her second season with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese is scoring 12.6 points per game and leading the league in rebounding (12.8 per game), while averaging 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 31.1 minutes per contest.

She's also recorded 15 or more rebounds in each of her last six games, something that's never been done before in WNBA history.

Amid her continued dominance on the court, Reese was selected by Minnesota Lynx forward and captain Napheesa Collier to be a part of Team Collier for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game on July 19.

The pick prompted the Chicago Sky’s cheeky message on X, "TEAM COLLIER TALK TO HER NICE ️ @Reese10Angel is officially on Team Collier for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game⭐️."

Reese opened her WNBA career with a historic run: a streak of ten straight double‑doubles, the longest ever by a rookie, surpassing Candace Parker’s mark with 10 games of double‑digit points and rebounds in a row.

By May 27 of this year, she became the quickest player ever (38 games) to amass 500 points and 500 rebounds, besting Hall‑of‑Famer Tina Charles’s previous mark.

Reese followed this up with her first career triple-double on June 15, recording 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, with three steals and two blocks, becoming the fastest forward in WNBA history to reach that milestone.

More recently, she earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for July 1, after averaging 19.7 points, 17.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals over three games.

With the All‑Star break around the corner, Reese will pivot from leading the Sky’s playoff push to helping Collier’s squad defeat Caitlin Clark's team on July 19.
