Chart Topper! BhadBoi OML's 'Wasiu Ayinde' Dominates TikTok's Summer 2025!

TikTok has officially released its highly anticipated list of Nigeria’s Top Songs of the Summer 2025, crowning ‘Wasiu Ayinde’ by BhadBoi OML as the number one track. This song has notably dominated the platform’s feeds, sparking countless trends and cementing its position as a cultural phenomenon. Toyin Mustapha, TikTok’s Head of Music Partnerships for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, lauded BhadBoi OML’s achievement as a significant celebration of cultural innovation within contemporary Nigerian music.
Mustapha highlighted that the album "BhadBoi" achieved widespread popularity on TikTok due to its distinctive cultural fusion. The track masterfully integrates a modern pop sound with traditional Yoruba influences drawn from Fuji music, serving as a prime example of how artists are successfully redefining the Afrobeats genre through authentic fusion. This innovative approach resonates deeply with audiences and showcases the dynamic evolution of Nigerian music.
The 2025 ranking serves as a vivid reflection of the diverse and vibrant soundscape currently shaping Nigeria’s musical trends. It encompasses both mainstream Afrobeats and various genre-bending fusions. While established Nigerian artists such as Davido, Olamide, and Rybeena secured top spots with their high-energy anthems, the top ten also featured gospel-inspired hits and sounds emanating from other parts of Africa, including South Africa and Uganda, which remarkably resonated with Nigerian listeners.
TikTok’s integral role as a cultural incubator was also underscored. The platform empowers creators, fans, and artists to collectively influence musical trends and drive real-time discovery. Mustapha emphasized that TikTok is a space where music truly comes alive, facilitating song discovery, cementing collective enjoyment, fostering artist growth, and unlocking unprecedented opportunities. He further added that the Songs of the Summer chart vividly illustrates the platform’s impact in breaking boundaries and elevating local sounds to global stages, thereby reinforcing its crucial importance within the Nigerian and broader African music ecosystem.
The 2025 top 10 list also prominently showcased the significant power of musical collaboration, with six joint projects making their mark. Notable examples include "99" by Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake, Young Jonn & Daecol, "With You" by Davido & Omah Lay, and "Gaddem" by Rybeena & Shoday, demonstrating a strong collaborative spirit within the industry.
Moreover, Amapiano's undeniable influence continues to shape the music scene, with "Ngishutheni" by Goon Flavour, Master KG & Eemoh singled out as a standout cross-continental hit that consistently dominated dance content and challenges. Mustapha also pointed to a discernible growing appetite for emotionally driven songs, citing tracks like Chella’s "My Darling," which achieved viral success due to its soulful and inspirational appeal. These particular songs, Mustapha concluded, eloquently captured the creativity and vibrancy inherent in Nigeria’s youth culture. The platform’s latest report unequivocally reinforced its status as one of the most powerful engines driving Nigerian music discovery, collaboration, and global recognition in 2025.
