Chart History in the Making: Sam Fender & Olivia Dean's 'Rein Me In' Dominates UK No. 1

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's collaborative track "Rein Me In" has achieved a remarkable milestone, securing its 15th non-consecutive week at the pinnacle of the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart as of July 2. This achievement places the song in an esteemed tie with Wet Wet Wet's iconic 1995 hit "Love Is All Around" for the longest-running No. 1 by a British artist in the chart's history.

The record-breaking run for "Rein Me In" positions it just behind two legendary tracks on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart all-time list. It trails Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You," which held the top spot for 16 weeks, and Frankie Laine's "I Believe in Love," which commanded No. 1 for an impressive 18 weeks. The song first reached the summit in February, marking the beginning of its extraordinary chart dominance.

Initially released in February 2025 on Sam Fender’s Mercury Prize-winning album "People Watching LP," a new version featuring Olivia Dean was later unveiled in June of the same year, contributing to its renewed success. "Rein Me In" was further recognized with the prestigious Song of the Year award at the 2026 BRIT Awards, solidifying its cultural impact. This chart-topper is Sam Fender’s first, while it marks Olivia Dean’s second, following her earlier success with "Man I Need."

In recent weeks, "Rein Me In" has also surpassed Alex Warren’s "Ordinary" to become the longest-running No. 1 hit of the 2020s thus far. Furthermore, it now shares the distinction with Drake’s 2015 smash "One Dance" for having the longest run at No. 1 in the 21st century, both achieving 15 weeks.

Beyond the top spot, the U.K. charts also saw other notable performances. Olivia Rodrigo maintained a strong presence in the top five, with "Stupid Song" holding firm at No. 2, and two additional tracks, "The Cure" at No. 4 and "Drop Dead" at No. 5. Legendary artist Michael Jackson's timeless hit "Billie Jean" completed the top five at No. 3. New entries making an impact included Prospa and Clonee’s "Free Your Mind," which broke into the top 10 at No. 10, and Shakira and Burna Boy’s World Cup-inspired track "Dai Dai," climbing to No. 17, reflecting a surge in enthusiasm for the global sporting event.
