Charlie Ward's Son to Play Basketball at Florida A&M

Charlie Ward, the new head coach of Florida A&M's basketball team, is set to coach his son, Anquan Boldin Jr., who is transferring to the Rattlers from Buffalo. Boldin Jr. announced his commitment on Instagram, showcasing himself in the team's white jersey.

Ward, who took on the head coach position last month, expressed his long-term commitment to the university. "This is the only job, collegiate job, I was willing to take," Ward stated. "Many of you may know me as a Seminole, but I was born a Rattler. The opportunity to join FAMU, in this capacity, was a welcome one." He emphasized that this role isn't a stepping stone but a firm commitment to Tallahassee, further solidified by his son's decision to join the team.

Boldin Jr. garnered interest from several Division I programs, including Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and San Diego State, before choosing Florida A&M. During his time at Buffalo, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds across 53 games.

In addition to Boldin Jr., Ward has successfully recruited Devere Palmer, a JUCO talent from Monroe University. Palmer, a New York native, averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over 59 games at Monroe. He earned NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors last season, playing a crucial role in his team's East District Championship and their appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament. In the tournament's first round, Palmer scored a team-high 17 points on 55% shooting and secured seven rebounds in a win against Chipola.

Despite being new to Florida A&M, Ward is focused on enhancing the team's achievements from the previous season and developing the Rattlers into a formidable force.
