Celebrity Kids Are Taking Over the 'Holy Airball' Trend
The 'Holy Airball' trend on TikTok looks like it's becoming a hit among celebrity children.
This month, the kids of famous names like Reese Witherspoon, Akon and Randy Jackson have cheekily introduced themselves and their parents' successes on the platform. The descendants of David T. Abercrombie, co-founder of Abercrombie & Fitch, and Nina Diaz, creator of former MTV reality show My Super Sweet 16 have also joined the trend.
One example of a TikTok is Ava Phillippe, the daughter of ex-spouses Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, who wrote: "I told him my mom's a lawyer," over a picture of herself. "He said, 'Oh, what firm does she work at?'" she continued, referencing her mom's portrayal of Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde franchise. The clip ends with pictures of Witherspoon and the 'holy freakin' airball' tagline.
For context, the term is a combination of 'holy cow' and 'airball,' showing that the person questioning their parents' background failed at slighting them.
The trend also pushes back on the perception of these famous children being nepo babies, as they're expressing pride in their parents' fame. Featured in each video is 2005 Jeezy and Akon classic "Soul Survivor," although the children haven't exactly come from hard knocks.
Speaking of Jeezy, the Atlanta rapper recently sued his managers for alleged financial misconduct.
TMZ obtained court documents that show the rapper (real name Jay Wayne Jenkins) has claimed that his manager and his business manager, Solomon Fornie and Eddie Bridgeman, have been exploiting him for his money.
Jeezy and Fornie created the company, Agency 99, to manage Jeezy’s money, but the pair’s relationship goes back 10 years. Bridgeman’s company, The SaiSai Group, also came in to help manage Jeezy’s finances. Jeezy has since claimed that Bridgeman wasn’t a licensed CPA at the time.
