Carlisle United's Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott leaves the club | ITV News Border
Carlisle United's Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott has left the club.
Abbott was appointed to the role in May 2022 and was previously first team manager between 2008 and 2013.
The former Bradford City and Hull City player was originally hired to be the assistant manager to Neil McDonald in 2006.
Abbott took over as caretaker manager, winning five of his ten games in charge before going back to be the assistant of John Ward.
Following Ward's departure from the club Abbott was again appointed as caretaker and then the permanent managerial job. He was sacked shortly after the start of the 2013/14 season.
Abbott is not the only senior member of staff to depart Brunton Park this transfer window though with Sporting Director Rob Clarkson leaving the club less than a year into the position.
In a statement Carlisle United said: "Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that Greg Abbott has today left his position as Head of Recruitment.
"Greg joined United in May 2022 having previously managed the club between 2008 and 2013.
"The club would like to thank him for all his work and commitment, and we wish him all the best for the future."
