Cardi B's New Single 'Am I the Drama?' Explodes, Snagging Platinum Certification on Release Day!

Cardi B's much-anticipated sophomore album, "Am I the Drama?", was released on Friday, September 19th, and has already achieved platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This 23-track project prominently features two of her biggest hits: the nine-time platinum smash "WAP" with Megan Thee Stallion and the five-time platinum hit "Up," both of which previously topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The Bronx-native MC had previously clarified her decision to include these successful singles on "Am I the Drama?". She explained on X, "WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home." She further emphasized, "I let haters make me not submit WAP for the Grammy’s and at this point I’m giving my fans what they want!"

The RIAA itself confirmed this latest accomplishment, announcing on X, "Congratulations @iamcardib! Her brand new album #AmITheDrama? is out now and already RIAA certified Platinum, featuring the certified 9x Platinum hit #WAP and 5x Platinum #UP @AtlanticRecords." This milestone adds to Cardi B's already impressive RIAA history. In 2022, she made headlines with her 2018 debut album, "Invasion of Privacy," when all 13 of its tracks were certified platinum or higher, making her the first female rapper to achieve such a feat. This accomplishment also extended her initial record as the first female artist to have every track on an album certified gold.

Her groundbreaking achievements also include being the first female MC to have multiple diamond-certified singles. These monumental tracks include her 2017 breakout smash "Bodak Yellow," "I Like It" featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny, and her collaboration with Maroon 5 on "Girls Like You." Cardi B continues to demonstrate her significant impact and lasting legacy within the music industry with each new success.
