Cardi B's Fiery Apology: Rapper Issues Statement After Leaked Rant Against Ice Spice

The hip-hop world experienced an explosive 24 hours on social media as rapper Cardi B found herself embroiled in multiple controversies, including a heated exchange with Nicki Minaj and a leaked phone conversation that has since escalated into a full-blown feud with Ice Spice.
The central point of contention stemmed from an alleged audio recording featuring a furious Cardi B. In the leaked call, she is heard making violent threats against Ice Spice, stating, “Why you want to act dumb? You don’t know?! I’ma show y’all! I’m not Latto! I’ma beat her the f— up! I’ma knock her the f— out!” This outburst quickly set off a chain of accusations and defenses across social media platforms.
Following the leak, Cardi B immediately took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation. She accused James Rosemond Jr., Ice Spice’s manager, of being responsible for leaking the phone call, a claim which Rosemond Jr. vehemently denied. In a subsequent series of tweets, Cardi B also publicly apologized to fellow artist Latto. She explained that her earlier comments, including the line “I’m not Latto,” were made in the heat of the moment during a rant, emphasizing her deep respect for Latto and her team, especially after their recent collaboration on the “Errtime (Remix).” Cardi B even promised to privately buy Latto a bag as a gesture of her sincerity.
The narrative intensified when Cardi B shifted her accusations, suggesting that Ice Spice herself was behind the leak. Cardi B pointed out that Ice Spice coincidentally tweeted a laughing emoji amidst Cardi’s ongoing back-and-forth with Nicki Minaj, and then capitalized on the sudden spotlight by previewing her upcoming single, “Pretty Privilege.” Cardi B challenged Rosemond Jr. to release the full 11-minute conversation, claiming it would reveal Ice Spice’s frustration over Sexyy Red receiving a BET Award while she had only won an iHeart award she wasn't considering.
In response to Rosemond Jr.'s denial and his suggestion that the controversy was part of Cardi B’s rollout for her sophomore album, Cardi B fired back. She denied his claims, stating, “James be forreal your artist had nothing to do with the conversation yesterday.. SHE is the one that tweeted that emoji then dropped that call and previewed a song right after.. not the other way around!! Your artist new song is not charting anywhere.. what can you possibly do for my rollout?? The gaslighting is insane.” She also clarified that her voice sounded higher on the recording because she was in her bedroom, which made everything sound louder due to the echo. As of the report, Latto had not yet responded to Cardi B's public apology, and Billboard had reached out to representatives for both Cardi B and Ice Spice for further comments, leaving the female rap world in a state of mass chaos as September drew to a close.
