Caitlin Clark's Crossover Sensation: WNBA Star Joins Kelce Brothers on 'New Heights'!

Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark recently discussed her highly anticipated signature sneaker on the "New Heights" podcast with hosts Jason and Travis Kelce. The new shoe is set to launch this spring, a project Clark began during her senior season at Iowa in 2024. Expressing her enthusiasm, Clark shared, "It's been one of the coolest things I've gotten to do." She elaborated on the intricate process, highlighting the challenge of balancing uniqueness with the necessary comfort for athletic performance. While the mold and technology of the shoe are important, Clark is particularly excited about developing various colorways, specifically mentioning a Kansas City Chiefs-themed version.
Clark, a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs hailing from West Des Moines, Iowa, also features prominently in Nike's "From Anywhere" advertising campaign, which includes a cameo appearance by the Kelce brothers. This campaign is strategically designed to build anticipation for her signature shoe's release.
Beyond her exciting sneaker venture, Clark also reflected on her participation in the USA Basketball camp held at Duke from December 12-14. After a WNBA season where she was limited to just 13 games due to injuries, Clark welcomed the opportunity to return to the court alongside many of the world's elite players. She views this experience as a crucial step in preparing for upcoming international competitions, stating, "It kind of kicks off the next cycle, preparing for the Olympics. And we have the World Cup in 2026." Her long-term aspirations include securing a spot on the 2026 World Cup team and ultimately achieving her goal of joining the Olympic team for 2028.
The podcast conversation extended beyond basketball and footwear, touching upon other interests. Notably, the ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations between the WNBA and the players' association were not discussed. Instead, Clark and the Kelces engaged in a lighthearted discussion about fantasy football and the impending NFL playoffs. Clark humorously noted that her primary fantasy football goal was to avoid finishing last, a feat she successfully achieved. Regarding the NFL playoffs, with her beloved Chiefs not making the postseason, Clark expressed a lack of a single favorite team. She specifically mentioned her admiration for New England quarterback Drake Maye, remarking, "I'm a Drake Maye fan, I think he's been incredible." Consequently, she indicated she would likely be rooting for the Patriots, while also acknowledging the strength of the Rams.
