A fan wearing a Caitlin Clark No. 22 Indiana Fever shirt was escorted out of the Boston Celtics' home arena during a stoppage of play in the second quarter after a review of a foul against Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell on Sun guard Saniya Rivers.
The WNBA officiating crew looked at the monitor after Fever head coach Stephanie White challenged the call. According to reporters at the game, that was when the fan in question, who was sitting courtside, allegedly crossed the line with Rivers.

"Saniya Rivers visibly upset after a courtside fan appeared to say something to her," said Emily Adams, reporter for the Hartford Courant. "She speaks to the refs for a minute, and security comes in to remove the fan, wearing a Fever shirt."

Sun sideline reporter Terrika Foster-Brasby followed up by detailing that the fan did not just talk to Rivers, but allegedly touched her. Both reporters corroborated that the Sun player called the behavior to the officials' attention.
Indiana Fever beat reporter Chloe Peterson of the Indy Star added more context and posted a video of the fan being removed. He was clearly wearing a shirt with Clark's No. 22.
The Fever and the Sun have had tense encounters recently. Connecticut knocked Indiana out of the playoffs in 2024 with White as their coach, before she left to join Indiana this year.
The last matchup featured multiple technical fouls, ejections and fines after incidents involving Fever guards Clark and Sophie Cunningham and Sun players Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey.
