As part of a wider initiative to improve service delivery and tackle emerging challenges, several Cabinet Secretaries have announced changes to appointments across various ministries.
According to a gazette notice published on May 16, Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi appointed Martha Nyangwaria to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority for a period of three years.
Wandayi also made changes to the Board of the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency after appointing Ann Michura as a member for three years.
At the same time, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba appointed Eugene Masombo to be a member of the Board of Trustees for the President’s Award.

The board manages the accreditation and licensing of participating institutions, ensures financial accountability, and provides strategic direction for the administration and implementation of the award program. Masombo will hold the position for the next three years.
Similarly, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, appointed Wario Pius Yattani as a member of the Board of the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre.
Yattani will serve for three years on the board, which is mandated to ensure the production, preservation, distribution, and conservation of animal genetic material as well as the rearing of breeding sires.
In the same breath, the Agriculture CS re-appointed George Amos Odhiambo Oballa as a member of the same board for the next three years.
His counterpart, Investments, Trade and Industry CS Lee Kinyanjui, appointed 70 members as inspectors under the Standards Act, which promotes the standardisation of commodities and codes of practice.
Among those appointed as inspectors are Mohamed Ali, Celestine Achieng, Clement Leniyon Mpakany, Martin Muriuki Ndege, Ombiro Beline Atieno, Daud Abdi Idle, Francis Muriithi Mbutei, David Kasyoki, Jane Wamboi Wainaina, and Rumana Abdiwahid Abey.
To improve service delivery in his Ministry of Mining and Blue Economy, CS Hassan Joho appointed a 14-member committee to the Community Development Agreement Committee between the Kapturo Community in Baringo County and Zhengwei Techniques Kenya Limited.
CS Joho also re-appointed Prof Francis Njoroge to be a member of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute for three years.
ICT CS William Kabogo appointed Leah Manyarkiy, Christopher Matseshe Naicca, and Dominic Salvio Kariuki Wambugu as members of the Board of Directors of the Information and Communications Technology Authority for the next three years.
Water and Sanitation CS Eric Muriithi Muuga reshuffled his ministry, appointing Daniel Shem Omino as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency and Jackson Kitili Mwenda as a Board Member of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training, and Research in Eastern Africa. Omino takes over from Odoyo Owidi, whose appointment was revoked.
Gender CS Hanna Wendot and East African Community (EAC), ASALs, and Regional Development CS Beatrice Asukul Moe also made changes in their ministries. Wendot appointed Abdullahi Nur Sheikh Kassim to the National Heroes Council, while Moe named Jattani Kuse Godana as a member of the National Drought Management Authority for a three-year term.
