Buhari's Son, Yusuf, Secures Controversial Automatic APC Ticket for 2027 Race

Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat in the upcoming 2027 elections. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Yusuf received the ticket unopposed, following a crucial stakeholders’ meeting held in Katsina on Tuesday, April 28. During this meeting, he was unanimously adopted as the party’s candidate through a consensus agreement.
The announcement of this consensus agreement was made by Alhaji Ahmed Dangiwa, who served as the Chairman of the Consensus Committee for Daura Zone. Alhaji Dangiwa is also a former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, lending significant weight to the decision. Following Yusuf’s adoption, Mannir Musa, the APC Chairman of Mai’adua Local Government, addressed the party members, urging them to accept the outcome of the consensus in good faith. He emphasized the importance of party unity and urged everyone to work together for the progress of the party and their community, stating, “I urge all our people to be obedient and accept the consensus reached by the committee and stakeholders in good faith. We should all work together for the unity and progress of the party and our people.”
Furthermore, Mannir Musa appealed to Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda to extend support to those aspirants who did not secure tickets through the consensus process, enabling them to continue serving their constituents. He also called upon those who received tickets via consensus to diligently work for the benefit of their constituents once elected in the general election. Musa also named other automatic candidates who secured their respective tickets, including Nasir Yahaya for the Daura senatorial seat race and Mustapha Musa for the Mai’adua constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly.
In his appreciative remarks, Yusuf Buhari thanked the party members for the profound confidence reposed in him. He solemnly pledged to provide quality representation to the people of the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency if he is elected in the 2027 general elections.
