The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has extended its condolences to the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Northern leadership following the death of Buhari.

While acknowledging Buhari’s discipline leadership, Ohanaeze Ndigbo noted that his administration from 2015 to 2023 was marked by anguish and discontent for the Igbo people.

In a statement signed by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Deputy President General and Thompson Ohio the National Spokesman of the group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo emphasized the importance of leaders building good legacies, stating that “death is a leveller that eliminates advantages and disadvantages.”

The organization urged current and future leaders to prioritise humility, accountability, and service, emphasizing that true leaders are stewards, not owners, of the nation.

“As Nigeria mourns the loss of its former president, Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s message serves as a reminder of the complexities of leadership and the need for inclusive governance.

“Buhari’s legacy will likely be remembered for both his notable achievements and the challenges faced during his tenure”.
