Buhari mourns business mogul Aminu Dantata
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and business magnate, Aminu Dantata, describing him as a visionary whose influence spanned entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and education across West Africa.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari said the late Dantata left behind a monumental legacy, noting his extensive contributions to Islamic education, rural development, and healthcare.
“His contributions to Islamic education, health, business, and rural development will continue to inspire many people, both within and outside the country,” Buhari said.
He also acknowledged Dantata’s role in sustaining one of Nigeria’s most enduring business legacies
“He provided long, stable leadership to one of the oldest and most respected business families in the country,” the former president said
Buhari praised Dantata for mentoring generations of entrepreneurs, many of whom have gone on to replicate his example in business and philanthropy.
“His philanthropic contributions impacted millions of people across West Africa,” he said. “I will always cherish my interactions with him.”
He extended condolences to the Dantata and Dangote families, the Kano Emirate Council, and the people of Kano State, whom he said had lost an influential figure.
“May Allah grant fortitude and strength to the members of the Dantata and Dangote families, the Kano Emirate Council, the government and people of the state and the country to whom the late Aminu Dantata meant a lot,” the statement concluded.
Buhari also prayed for the repose of Dantata’s soul, asking Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
