has finally revealed the personal reason for his decision to step down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, as per a report.The 94-year-old opened up in a recent interview, saying that it was only after turning 90 years old that he really started to feel the effects of old age, according to Daily Mail. For years, the "Oracle of Omaha" defied the conventional norms of ageing, and ran the company since he took over in 1965.

Buffett told the Wall Street Journal in an interview, "I didn't really start getting old, for some strange reason, until I was about 90 but when you start getting old, it does become - it's irreversible," quoted Daily Mail.

The billionaire investor also admitted that he and Greg Abel, the long-time chairman, who he endorsed as his successor, recently were operating at different speeds, with his only getting slower and Abel being more efficient, as per the report.Buffett pointed out that, "The difference in energy level and just how much he could accomplish in a 10-hour day compared to what I could accomplish in a 10-hour day—the difference became more and more dramatic," quoted Daily Mail.The current CEO also added, "He just was so much more effective at getting things done, making changes in management where they were needed, helping people that needed help someplace, but just all kinds of ways," as quoted in the report.

He even mentioned that it would have been "unfair" to not give Abel the position because "the more years" he spends in charge, the better for Berkshire Hathaway, reported Daily Mail.However, Buffett also said that he would remain in some capacity at Berkshire and said, "My health is fine, in the sense that I feel good every day," adding, "I'm here at the office and I get to work with people I love, that they like me pretty well, and we have a good time," as quoted in the report.

Buffett also admitted that he was surprised that he would not be CEO for the rest of his life but also surprised by "how long it went," quoted Daily Mail.

While, he also shared that, "I'm not going to sit at home and watch soap operas," adding, "My interests are still the same," as quoted in the report.


Buffett says he only truly began feeling old after 90, and he’s now noticing a slowdown that made him realize it’s time for someone younger and faster to lead.
