BTS's 'ARIRANG' Album Takes the World by Storm, Hitting No. 1 in UK and Australia!

K-pop sensation BTS has made a triumphant return to the global music scene, with their new album 'ARIRANG' debuting at No. 1 on both the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, both published on March 27. This marks their third chart-topping album in both countries, underscoring their immense popularity following a four-year hiatus during which members completed mandatory military service and focused on solo projects. The comeback was heralded by a free concert in Seoul on March 20, broadcast globally on Netflix, attracting an audience of 18.4 million viewers.

In Australia, 'ARIRANG' not only secured the No. 1 spot but also emerged as the week’s best-seller on vinyl, making it BTS’s seventh top 10 album in the country. Previous successful albums include 'Love Yourself: Tear' (No. 6 in 2018), 'Love Yourself: Answer' (No. 9 in 2018), 'Map Of The Soul: 7' (No. 1 in 2020), 'Map Of The Soul: 7 – The Journey' (No. 9 in 2020), 'Be' (No. 2 in 2020), and 'Proof' (No. 1 in 2022). On the ARIA Singles Chart, their track “Swim” debuted impressively at No. 4, becoming their sixth top 10 single. Further solidifying their presence, other tracks like “Body To Body” (No. 26), “Hooligan” (No. 46), and “FYA” (No. 48) also entered the ARIA Top 50.

Across the U.K., 'ARIRANG' followed the success of 'MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA' (2019) and 'MAP OF THE SOUL: 7' (2020) by reaching the top of the Official Albums Chart. The single “Swim” also achieved a new career peak for the band, landing at No. 2 on the Official Singles Chart and becoming their fifth top 10 single in the region. This strong performance dethroned Harry Styles, whose album 'Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally' fell to No. 2 after a two-week reign, despite having 2026’s biggest opening week to date.

The charts also saw significant movement from other artists. In Australia, U.S. country star Luke Combs debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA Chart with his sixth studio album, 'The Way I Am,' continuing his streak of top 20 albums. Adelaide rock band Bad//Dreems achieved a career-best with 'Ultra Dundee' bowing at No. 5. Morgan Evans' 'Steel Town' entered at No. 17. Olivia Dean maintained her dominance on the ARIA Singles Chart with “Man I Need” at No. 1 for an astounding 19 consecutive weeks, a feat second only to Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey.” Tame Impala’s “Dracula” also climbed to a new peak at No. 7.

In the U.K., Olivia Dean’s 'The Art of Loving' secured the No. 3 spot, fresh off her success at the 30th anniversary MOBO Awards where the LP was named Album of the Year and Dean received three awards. Luke Combs’ 'The Way I Am' debuted at No. 4, marking a personal best for the artist in the U.K. Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits collection, '50 Years: Don’t Stop,' rounded out the top five.

BTS fans, known as ARMY, have much to anticipate with a world tour supporting 'ARIRANG' on the horizon. The tour is set to commence on April 9 in Goyang, South Korea, and will hit North America on April 25 in Tampa, Florida. Australian dates include Melbourne (February 12 and 13) and Sydney (February 20 and 21) next year, with venues and ticketing information to be announced soon. U.K. fans can look forward to a pair of shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this summer.
