BTS' Jin Reveals Disinterest in Their Hit Song 'Dynamite'

BTS's hit song 'Dynamite,' which exploded onto the global stage, almost didn't happen, as revealed by Jin. The K-pop band was initially apprehensive about singing the all-English track, despite it becoming one of their biggest chartbusters and solidifying their global superstardom.

In a recent appearance on the Netflix variety show Screwballs, Jin admitted that the group had some misgivings about the song. He explained that during the COVID-19 crisis, the agency presented them with three demo tracks. 'Dynamite' was the first they heard, and while they asked for alternatives, they liked the other two less. Jin confessed, "We weren't exactly thrilled about it."

Despite their initial hesitancy, 'Dynamite' became a phenomenon, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2020, making BTS the first all-South Korean group to top the chart. The song also sold 265,000 downloads in its debut week, surpassing records since Taylor Swift’s 2017 hit, 'Look What You Made Me Do.'

Fans reacted with surprise to Jin's revelation, expressing their thoughts on social media. Some defended the song, while others emphasized the importance of creative freedom for BTS. Meanwhile, Jin has been keeping busy with a cameo in Screwballs, a Netflix reboot about quirky siblings facing challenges. The series features comedy heavyweights Kim Sook, Hong Jin Kyung, Jo Se Ho, Joo Woo Jae, and Jang Woo Young. The show is described as a fusion of absurdity and warmth, touching on themes of family, resilience, and madness.
