Additionally, Brookdale topped a separate list of the 30 largest memory care providers, with 8,962 memory care units, as well as a separate list of the 50 largest providers according to operational resident capacity, with 56,921 residents. The company also claimed the No. 1 slot on the women in leadership list, with recognition for Denise Warren, interim CEO and chairman, for “providing steady leadership for one of the industry’s largest and most recognized brands.”

LCS topped the report’s list of 30 largest independent living providers, with 23,869 such units, as well as the list of 10 largest CCRC operators, with 66 such communities.

Atria claimed the most international properties, with 29 in Canada, followed by Sunrise Senior Living, with 15 in Canada. Also on the international list were Merrill Gardens, with three properties in China; Distinctive Living and Belmont Village LP, with one property each in Mexico; and Touchmark, with one property in Canada.

Although Argentum annually provides this snapshot of the senior living industry, association President and CEO James Balda said that the 2025 report stands out for its depth.

“It’s not just about who’s the largest; it’s about understanding where the industry is heading, who is leading the way and how providers are adapting to meet growing demand,” he said in a statement.

The report also spotlighted women deemed to be industry trailblazers, workforce development strategies and technology innovations.

The 2025 Largest Providers Report is available for download on Argentum’s website, along with an Excel file that enables the sorting and analyzing of data for benchmarking and planning. The report was created by Argentum in partnership with commercial real estate finance firm Lument and sponsorship by health technology company PointClickCare.
