Arne Slot explained why the intensity of Liverpool's training schedule has been tapered down, while previewing the Premier League champions' trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Reds visit Amex Stadium on Monday night for their final away game of the season, which will take place eight days after their previous outing – the 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield.
With the title already secured, Slot granted his players four days off this week and the squad then reconvened at the AXA Training Centre on Friday.
During his pre-match press conference, the head coach said: "Today [Friday] is the first day we come back together.
"We feel this is also a very good lead-up to our game on Monday, because I have said before that it is quite difficult for a team that already won the league to train so many days in a row if you've already won something.
"So you need to find the balance between days off and preparing very well for the next game. So, we train today, tomorrow and Sunday, that's three days in a row to be very well prepared for Brighton.
"Keep in mind that these players never had a few days off during the season because we were in the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League – and of course the Premier League – for a long time.
"So where other teams maybe had a few days off during the season, we hardly ever had that."

Watch on YouTubeSlot had been asked whether will be involved in Liverpool's final two matches of the campaign and stated: "As you know, I wasn't here in the last few days and neither was Trent, so I haven't spoken to him yet.
"It's quite early for me now to say what the team would look like and what the squad would look like for Monday."
Following 's return, was the only member of Slot's squad that was not available for the game against Arsenal.
Gomez has not played since undergoing hamstring surgery in February, though the head coach reported last week that he is 'getting closer and closer' to fitness.

Defenders , and have recovered from their injuries and are also expected to be available again.
The fitness of will be closely monitored but and former Red look set to miss out.
was ruled out for the remainder of the season at the start of May and no fresh update has been provided on the condition of , who last appeared in November's reverse fixture.
Fabian Hurzeler told reporters: "Lewis will be back in the squad, Joel will be back in the squad. That's all very positive news.
"Kaoru had some small, minor issues, so hopefully it will also be a possibility for us [to have him] in the squad. So, overall very positive and we have more options to select.
"Igor is also part of the squad for sure. James is doing rehab on the pitch, so he's getting closer. I'm not sure if we will see him this season but it's a nice process what he's going through.
"Georginio Rutter is also very close, so hopefully he will be back next week with the team. So, there's a small chance, like I said from the beginning, that he can be an option for the end of the season for the last game."
