The House of Representatives has distanced the institution from the claims of bribery allegations made by Binance executive stating that the allegations were targeted at individual members not the House as an institution.

Recall that the Binance official, Tigran Gambaryan had claimed that some members of the House demanded the sum of $150 million bribe from him.

In a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, the House emphasized its commitment to due process and rule of law while.

Speaking on behalf of the House, the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi stated, “These allegations, which were first circulated last year, are targeted at individual members, not the institution of the House itself.”

He went on to clarify that the Honourable Members involved had assured House leadership of their innocence.

“The Honourable Members named have assured the House Leadership that they never had any such dealings as reported. One of the members has already instituted legal action to clear his name, while others affected have been encouraged to do the same in pursuit of justice and the protection of their reputations.

The statement also highlighted that the case has evolved into a diplomatic issue, involving both the Nigerian and U.S. governments.

According to the House, the Federal Government of Nigeria has prioritized national interests over external commercial pressure, including rejecting financial settlement offers from Binance.

“This raises serious questions about the credibility and intentions behind these allegations.

“As the matter is now before a court of competent jurisdiction and subject to ongoing diplomatic engagements, the House emphasized its commitment to refraining from further comment.

“In line with parliamentary, judicial, and diplomatic principles, we will not be making additional statements while these processes are underway,” Rep. Rotimi noted.

The House urged the public to remain cautious about unverified reports. “We ask the public to rely on confirmed facts rather than recycled claims aimed at discrediting Nigerian institutions and public officials.
