Boxing King Reigns Supreme: Usyk Delivers Devastating KO to Secure Undisputed Title

Oleksandr Usyk solidified his legacy by defeating Daniel Duboisin a unification bout at Wembley, London, to become a three-time undisputed heavyweight boxing champion. The Ukrainian's dominant performance culminated in a fifth-round knockout victory, maintaining his undefeated professional record, which now stands at 24-0. This win marks Usyk's second triumph over the British boxer, following their previous encounter in 2023.
Going into the fight, Dubois held the IBFheavyweight title, which he secured by defeating Anthony Joshualast September, after Usyk had previously vacated the belt. However, in an unpredictable turn that aligns with his career, Usyk reclaimed the IBF title, adding it to his WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC belts, thus re-establishing his undisputed reign in the division.

Despite Dubois being touted as a promising prospect in the heavyweight division, the 38-year-old Usyk showcased his vast experience and unparalleled boxing skills. In the early rounds, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist matched the younger fighter's energy, landing consecutive jabs and a hook in the first round while skillfully evading Dubois's attacks. A counter hook in the second round momentarily wobbled Dubois, who struggled with his jab, but the 27-year-old bravely rallied, matching Usyk's intensity in the third and fourth rounds, much to the crowd's admiration.
The decisive moment arrived in the fifth round. Buoyed by his previous success, Dubois came out aggressively, seeking to land more shots. However, Usyk delivered a powerful right hand over the top that sent Dubois to the canvas for the first time. Although Dubois managed to beat the referee's count, Usyk swiftly followed up with his signature left hook, sending Dubois down a second time. The referee promptly stopped the fight, confirming Usyk as the winner by knockout.

After the fight, Dubois, who had controversially claimed a low blow in their 2023 encounter, conceded Usyk was the better fighter on this occasion. He stated, “I have to commend him, I gave everything I had. There were some things I could have sharpened up on, but I will be back.” Usyk's impressive career now includes victories over notable British fighters like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, adding to his two wins over Daniel Dubois, all achieved while contending for heavyweight titles.
