Boxing Blockbuster: Keyshawn Davis vs. Nahir Albright Rematch Set for May 16!
A highly anticipated rematch is set between former lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis and Nahir Albright, scheduled for May 16 in Norfolk, Virginia. Sources confirmed with ESPN that the fight will be streamed live and exclusively on DAZN. This bout marks a significant chapter in a growing rivalry that has seen both professional and personal confrontations between the two boxers.
Their initial encounter in 2023 saw Keyshawn Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) secure a majority decision victory over Nahir Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs). However, the result of that contest was controversially overturned to a no contest after Davis tested positive for marijuana use, leaving the official record unsettled and fueling further animosity.
The rivalry intensified beyond the ring last June in Norfolk, following Albright's decision win over Davis' brother, Kelvin. A physical altercation ensued, with a visibly marked-up Albright later claiming in an interview with ESPN's Mark Kriegel that he was jumped by Keyshawn and Keon Davis after the fight. This incident further escalated the personal stakes involved in their professional careers.
Keyshawn Davis has faced recent challenges, including being stripped of his WBO lightweight title and having a fight with Edwin De Los Santos scrapped after he came in 4.3 pounds overweight. Despite these setbacks, Davis returned to action in January at junior welterweight, impressively stopping Jamaine Ortiz, demonstrating his resilience and skill.
Nahir Albright has also maintained an active fight schedule, recently battling Frank Martin to a draw on the undercard of Ryan Garcia's victory over Mario Barrios in February. The upcoming rematch provides both fighters with a crucial opportunity to settle their score, validate their standings in the lightweight division, and address the contentious history that defines their rivalry.
