Bobyard 2.0 Unleashes Unified AI for Game-Changing Estimator Takeoffs

Bobyard, an advanced AI platform, has officially unveiled Bobyard 2.0, its latest and most comprehensive platform update. This significant release is engineered to revolutionize takeoff workflows and introduce a unified AI workbench, specifically tailored to meet the demanding pace of estimators within the construction and landscaping industries. The primary objective of Bobyard 2.0 is to substantially accelerate takeoff operations, a critical phase in project estimating where materials and quantities required for a construction job are meticulously analyzed. By digitizing and speeding up this process, contractors can effectively mitigate the inherent risks of errors associated with traditional manual measurements. Ultimately, these faster and more accurate takeoffs are designed to prevent costly surprises and budget overruns during the actual construction phase.
Central to Bobyard 2.0's enhancements is its innovative integration of materials and their associated costs through a 'measure first, price later' model. This approach is specifically crafted to optimize time efficiency and drastically reduce errors, guiding users seamlessly from the initial takeoff stage to finalized project bids. A standout new feature, Multi-Measure, empowers estimators to draw a single line or shape, eliminating the need to create multiple separate elements to calculate areas, perimeters, or total volumes. The system intelligently generates all related measurements concurrently, significantly cutting down on redundant measurement tasks.
Further bolstering its intelligent capabilities, Bobyard 2.0 has consolidated its array of AI tools into a sophisticated AI Workbench. This workbench includes a crucial Review Workflow option, providing estimators with the flexibility to carefully examine and either accept or adjust specific AI-generated outputs before their integration into the final takeoff. The platform also introduces Legend Manager, an updated feature that offers users a dedicated and flexible space for creating and managing symbol and pattern legends. Another practical addition is Text Count, which enables users to convert words or labels found within drawings directly into quantifiable count measurements.
According to Bobyard, a core philosophy behind this update is that "once your takeoff is done, you shouldn’t have to rebuild anything to get to a finalised estimate." This commitment is reflected in the simpler and more streamlined process for importing pricing and assemblies into Bobyard 2.0's Estimate Table. This functionality allows users to transition effortlessly from takeoff to a production-ready estimate without the necessity of exporting data to external tools like Excel or re-entering information, providing a truly integrated estimation experience. Moreover, the update includes significant improvements to navigation, enhancing overall ease of use. A new cross-page search feature has been introduced, and the entire workflow, from initial takeoff to ready-to-use estimates, has been comprehensively streamlined, ensuring users can complete their tasks without ever needing to leave the platform or switch between different tools.
Bobyard's commitment to innovation is backed by its successful Series A funding round last year, which secured $35 million, led by 8VC with additional participation from Pear VC and Caffeinated Capital. The company highlights that its platform is capable of automating up to 70% of the quantity and material takeoff process. Contractors who utilize Bobyard have reported an impressive average reduction in takeoff times by 65%. This efficiency translates into tangible business advantages, with estimators reportedly submitting three to five times more bids, enjoying greater accuracy in results, and experiencing improved margins and win rates.
Michael Ding, founder and CEO of Bobyard, emphasized the user-centric development approach: "Every change we made was driven by what our customers told us they needed to move faster, stay in control, and spend less time doing work that software should be doing for them. This is our answer to that, and it’s only the beginning." Marty Grunder, founder of The Grow Group and Grunder Landscaping, provided a strong endorsement, stating, "The AI tools are on another level. We’re talking cutting takeoff time in half on real jobs. If you’re trying to level up your estimating this season, there’s nothing else like this on the market. Period." Bobyard 2.0 launched on April 8 for landscaping contractors and is scheduled to be made available for additional construction trades in late April.
