- The ongoing feud between Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has taken a dramatic turn.

General Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has never hidden his disdain for Bobi Wine.

In his latest online tirade, the military chief openly threatened Bobi, vowing to deal with him personally.

"Kabobi is going to get the beating of his life soon! I will promote the soldier who kills him. Tell Kabobi I didn't beat him enough in Arua! I'm coming for him again. This time I'll beat him properly. I won't stand in an election with Kabobi! I will simply shoot him dead," he wrote on his X account.

Not stopping there, Kainerugaba went on to challenge Bobi Wine to a boxing match, boasting about his physical prowess and claiming that eliminating the opposition leader would be an easy task.

"Killing Kabobi is an easy job! Very easy. He says he likes boxing. I invite to a boxing match," he wrote.

Bobi Wine, never one to shy away from a challenge, responded with a counter-proposal.

Accepting the duel, he set conditions for the bout, wagering his political career against Kainerugaba’s drinking habits.

"Challenge accepted! If you beat me, I’ll quit politics, and if I beat you, you quit alcohol. Say when and I’ll say where," Bobi Wine replied.

Following the heated back-and-forth, Kainerugaba’s X account was deactivated yet again, raising speculation about whether he was forced to take it down or if it was a strategic retreat.

While the likelihood of the boxing match actually happening remains slim, the verbal sparring has further cemented the deep animosity between the two.

With Bobi Wine’s rising influence in Uganda’s opposition politics and Kainerugaba’s looming ambitions, the battle between them is far from over.

Earlier in the year, Kainerugaba sparked controversy after publicly threatening to "eliminate" the opposition leader.

The remarks, made in a social media post, drew widespread condemnation from human rights groups and political analysts.

Muhoozi later claimed his comments were metaphorical, but Bobi Wine's National Unity Platform party denounced the statement as a direct threat to democracy.

The incident has intensified concerns about growing authoritarianism and the safety of opposition figures.
