This red carpet appearance was notably the power couple’s first one ever since Lively filed a s-xual harassment lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and accused him of waging a smear campaign against her. That said, even an insider didn’t hesitate to comment to Page Six that the pair, who have been married since 2012 and share four children together, “should have sat this one out.”

However, the respective actors themselves appear to have no regrets about it all. As the source continued to spill the beans to the outlet, Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds reportedly “have no regrets about making an appearance [to the event]. And they’re glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to.

The source also claimed that the Gossip Girl star “was initially hesitant to attend the anniversary show but ultimately she’s glad she went and had a really nice time.” That is also to say that “Blake and Ryan were two of the last people to leave Studio 8H where ‘SNL’ is filmed. They walked out with Paul McCartney and his wife, and a bunch of crew members asked to take pictures with Ryan which he happily did.

But while both Lively and Reynolds seem to be doing everything to increase the ever-so-thinning support for the actress amidst the lawsuit as new evidence continues to unfold, this public outing and a comment the Deadpool star made could actually land the pair in further legal trouble with Baldoni.

While gracing their presence on the red carpet even in the midst of such tense drama encircling them was one thing, what appears to be landing another nail in the coffin is that Reynolds reportedly made a thinly veiled joking reference to Baldoni and his wife’s ongoing lawsuit with him in a Q&A skit with SNL alums Amy Poehler and Tina Fey during the event.

When Poehler asked the Free Guy star, “Ryan Reynolds, how’s it going?” The actor’s response was, “Great,” before he paused to add, “Why, what have you heard?” seemingly referencing the legal battle. While that was that, now a source is claiming to Page Six that this very comment and legal outing may attract further legal action from Baldoni’s legal team.

The insider said, “It’s very plausible that Justin’s legal team will use this public outing to defend Baldoni,” all the while emphasizing, “Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn’t making a public mockery out of it.” That’s not all, for even Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman came clean about his thoughts on this comment – and he didn’t hold back.

During an interview with Hot Mics with Billy Bush, Freedman candidly said, “I’m unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been s-xually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation. I can’t think of anyone who’s done anything like that. So it surprised me.” That said, while Reynolds and Lively may show they have nothing to hide, things might get ugly for them amidst this ongoing legal battle.
