The legal drama started when Blake sued Justin, 41, and his producing partner Jamey Heath. She accused the duo of sexual harassment on set of the 2024 film.

She claimed Justin hired a crisis PR team to smear her in retaliation after she complained about the alleged behavior. Justin and Jamey have denied all allegations of sexual harassment.

The two claim Blake seized control of their film during and after production. Justin accused her of being the one to smear him in the press.

On August 9, 2024, Jamey wrote to the Sony Marketing Team, “So we all see the noise and chatter regarding Justin and Blake and cast … This is all crazy. But … I’d like for us to take a look at even in the midst of ‘feuding,’ how many people are pointing out that the [domestic violence] is being glossed over and that Justin is essentially the only one appreciate the subject matter whist others may be not giving it the proper respect is deserves.”

On August 12, 2024, Justin said “organic articles emerged directly related to how” Blake was promoting the film. One article called Blake “tone deaf” and “shallow.”

The same day, Justin said Jamey had a conversation with heads at WME, one of the biggest talent agencies, and a publicist. Justin was previously repped by WME but was dropped after Blake sued.

WME also reps Blake and Ryan. In his lawsuit, Justin claims that WME heads shared that Ryan and Blake were “furious” with Justin and his company for positioning them as “promoting the film as ‘Barbie film’ when elevating [Justin] to speak on the more serious messaging.”

The Hollywood couple reportedly blamed Justin’s team for the issue and demanded Justin’s company Wayfarer release a statement of “contrition, taking accountability for the negative press toward [Blake] and [Ryan].”

The suit claims Blake and Ryan warned WME that “absent complaint, the ‘gloves will come off.’”

Ryan allegedly said he would personally draft a statement for Wayfarer to release immediately. Jamey repeated at the meeting that the bad press toward Blake and Ryan was not caused by Justin’s team.

Later that night, Justin said WME had Jamey review the statement Blake and Ryan wrote for Wayfarer to release. The suit said, “Upon review, WME concurs with Wayfarer that the statement was vague, implies culpability without substance, and fails to address the issues at hand. Furthermore, if the goal was to mitigate negative online attention directed at [Blake], the statement would have the opposite effect. In response, Wayfarer, [Justin], and [Jamey] reject the demand, firmly refusing to issue any statement falsely assuming responsibility for non-existent issues.”

The statement at issue read, “It Ends With Us was a troubled production which we take full accountability for. We are very sorry to everyone we caused upset to privately and publicly. Blake Lively, Colleen Hoover, the entire case and crew led with professionalism every step of the way, any negatively aimed at them is ours to own. We mutually agreed that the case would be promoting the film separately and [redacted].”

In his lawsuit, Justin also claimed Blake iced him out of the film’s premiere despite him working on the project for years. For her part, Blake asked the court to issue a protective order to prevent Justin from releasing additional evidence to the public amid their legal battle.
