Billie Eilish's Scottish roots as star gushes over love for Scotland after OVO Hydro gigs
Billie Eilish has opened up about her Scottish roots amid her two sold out gigs at Glasgow's OVO Hydro this week. The 23-year-old performed in the city this week on July 7 and 8 as a part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft world tour.
Billie has made her love for her Scottish fans very clear, saying she loves the way her name is pronounced in a Glaswegian accent. Ahead of her gigs, she gushed that she was looking forward to hearing her Scots fans scream her name.
However, that's not the only thing she loves about Scotland as the Birds of a Feather singer actually has Scottish ancestry in her family. The singer has Scottish roots from her actress mum Maggie Baird's side of the family and Irish connections from her actor father, Patrick O’Connell.
Billie, who was born in Los Angeles, told the Sunday Mail: “My parents have told me about my Scottish and Irish roots, but I don’t really know much more than that.

“It would be cool to find out more. I love being in Scotland and I just want to have the best time with my fans.
“The Scottish accent is beautiful, one of my favourite things when I am over there is hearing people say my name in the Scottish accent.
“So in advance please say my name.”
Billie is currently on tour following the release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
The album was written by Billie and Finneas, her older brother and long-time collaborator, who also produced the album.
The Ocean Eyes hitmaker, who rose to fame in 2015 with her debut single, kicked off her world tour in September last year.
Billie famously sang the latest Bond theme song in the latest 2021 film No Time To Die and says its actor Daniel Craig who will always be her favourite 007 agent ahead of late Scot legend, Sean Connery.
She said: “I love Daniel – so for me he is always going to be number one Bond - no matter who comes next."
Speaking of the Scottish Bond, she added: "Sean Connery was a great Bond though. Let's say he is in my top two.”
Billie was brought up in a place in LA called Highland Park and said she'd be happy to try the whiskey of the same name.
She said: “After my performances in Scotlandwe are going to have to fly straight to London – so there wont be much opportunity for much downtime.
“It’s a shame because from what I have seen on TV the Highlands look amazing but if anybody wants to leave me a bottle of whisky in my dressing room you wont hear any complaints from me.”
