The rains started right before the service ended, with Elachi saying that in the Maasai culture, it was a sign of good tidings.
“If I came when sunny, they would have said I had a bad omen. So the rain signals blessings.”
According to the Dagoretti North MP, she was supposed to hold a housewarming party for the home, but procrastinated.
“My neighbours were to come and celebrate this home. It has been a home since 2013 and we have been just dilly dallying.
We will come back for a different kind of celebration. It is God's will.”
Elachi said that her son’s death had taught her about living in the moment.
The legislator then urged Elvis’s friends to make their parents proud and reassured them of her support.
“This is your turning point with your parents. Make them proud. Graduate. And if you have anything to tell me, you know my home, you know me better. If you need anything done I will stand with you.”
The politician also explained the decision to bury her son in Kajiado county.
“My mother is a Kikuyu with a mixture of Maasai blood, and that's why she stays in Kajiado,” she said.
South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro, who has a mother-son relationship with Elachi, braved the heavy downpour to bury Elvis.
The MP and several other mourners carried the white casket with the remains to the grave, a stone's throw away from the house Elachi built for her mother.
The grave was lined with white tiles, and the rainwater pooled at the bottom.
A man got into the grave with a bucket to empty the water before Elvis could be buried.
The live video abruptly ended.

During the funeral, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula celebrated Elachi's kindness.
The politician said that Elachi was supportive after his mother died in 2024.
Wetang'ula recalled Elachi staying next to his mother’s casket through the night, and remaining with the family two days after the funeral.
The priest offered a much-needed light moment during the funeral service by sharing a light story when ants attacked him while preaching.
