The legislator was burying her son, Elvis Murakana, who died in the hospital after a road accident.

The Africa Nazarene University student was travelling from Kasarani at night to run an errand when he had a tyre burst along Thika Road. Elvis braked and the vehicle overturned, and he sustained brain injuries.

During his burial, his mother, a Luhya, shared insights into her heritage and settling her mother in Kajiado.

According to Elachi, her mother is a Kikuyu with Maasai blood.

The MP's mother was first seen during Elvis's requiem mass at the Holy Trinity church in Kileleshwa.

The 84-year-old was dressed in blue like her daughter, who held her hand while walking for support.

During the burial, Elachi said her mother could not speak as the shoes she wore were inappropriate for the slippery ground, as it had rained. However, she passed on her thanks to all those who supported the family during the grieving period.

After the service, Mugirango South MP Silvanus Osoro and other pallbearers braved the heavy rain to carry Elvis's casket to the grave.

The livestream showed the humongous bungalow with a green roof. The house is surrounded by an tall wall topped with an electric fence. Access is via a towering black gate.

Inside the compound next to the walls, the family planted trees, including the Italian Cypress and numerous flowers. Trees were also planted outside the towering fence.,

The huge compound has a circular driveway.

Elachi's mum's house could operate off-grid as it has numerous solar panels on the roof.

The huge house seemed to have at least four bedrooms, given its scale. Elachi said she finished building it in 2013.

However, she had not held a housewarming party as she kept procrastinating.

The MP said she would return and host her neighbours at Nalepo to celebrations.

In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Elvis's tiled grave was filled with water due to the heavy downpour.

They could not lower the casket into the grave in that state.

One man suggested that they place stones in the grave to elevate the casket, but the others declined.

A man got into the grave and scooped out he water with a bucket before the young man was buried.

A downcast Elachi was seen next to the grave, forlornly looking at her son’s casket for the last time. The family received overwhelming condolence messages from Kenyans.
