Beatles' 'Anthology 4' Soars to Top 10 on Billboard Charts!

The Beatles’ iconic archival “Anthology” series has made a remarkable return to the Billboard charts, three decades after its initial launch in 1995 with “Anthology 1.” The latest installment, “Anthology 4,” has debuted impressively within the top 10 across five distinct Billboard charts, all dated December 6. These include prominent positions such as No. 9 on Top Album Sales, No. 9 on Top Current Album Sales, No. 7 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, No. 6 on Top Rock Albums, and a strong No. 3 on Indie Store Album Sales. This resurgence highlights the enduring appeal and historical significance of The Beatles’ unreleased and rare recordings.

The “Anthology 4” collection comprises a substantial 36 tracks, notably featuring 13 previously unreleased recordings sourced directly from The Beatles’ extensive vault. The remaining tracks on the album have been made available on prior reissues, carefully curated to offer fans a comprehensive historical perspective. This new album was released across various formats, including vinyl, CD, digital download, and streaming services, ensuring broad accessibility for its global fanbase. In its debut week ending November 27, “Anthology 4” garnered nearly 17,000 equivalent album units in the United States, as reported by Luminate. A significant portion of this total, approximately 13,000 units, came from traditional album sales, encompassing purchases of physical copies and digital downloads.

Beyond its impressive chart performance, “Anthology 4” also secured a spot at No. 48 on the overall Billboard 200. Concurrently, “The Anthology Collection,” a comprehensive boxed set compiling all four “Anthology” albums into a single, massive release, also charted at No. 48 on the Billboard 200. This collection offers fans the complete archival experience across CD, vinyl, digital download, and streaming services. The release of the new “Anthology” album was further amplified by a series of complementary projects designed to celebrate The Beatles’ legacy. These included a 25th-anniversary reissue of the seminal book “The Beatles Anthology” and the highly anticipated streaming debut of “The Beatles Anthology” documentary series on Disney+, which began on November 26. Originally premiered in 1995 on ABC-TV as an eight-part documentary, the series has been expanded to a nine-part version for its 2025 iteration, offering even deeper insights into the band’s history.

The historical success of the “Anthology” series is noteworthy, with the first three volumes, released in 1995 and 1996, all having topped both the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales charts. “Anthology 4” enters a particularly competitive landscape on the latest Top Album Sales chart, where it contends with other major debuts. For instance, Stray Kids’ “DO IT” debuted at No. 1, the “Wicked: For Good” soundtrack entered at No. 2, and Aerosmith and YUNGBLUD’s “One More Time” started at No. 3, underscoring the album’s strong performance amidst stiff competition.
