BBNaija Star Ilebaye Hospitalized After Assault, Disturbing Livestream Shocks Fans

Ilebaye Odiniya, the acclaimed winner of the 2023 Big Brother Naija All-Stars edition, has alleged she was assaulted, an incident that unfolded publicly in the early hours of a Saturday, leaving fans and fellow reality TV stars in distress. The reality TV star was seen in a widely circulated Instagram livestream, visibly battered with facial injuries and swelling, crying and repeatedly calling for help, pleading to be let out of a locked room. This harrowing broadcast immediately sparked widespread concern across social media, leading to an urgent call for intervention from her fan base and the BBNaija alumni community.
Following the alarming livestream, fellow BBNaija housemate Beauty Tukura provided a much-needed update, confirming that Ilebaye was safe and in secure hands. Beauty later stated that while the details were not hers to share, Ilebaye would tell her story in due time. Initial unverified reports circulating online pointed towards a domestic dispute at Ilebaye’s family home, with speculation suggesting a confrontation possibly involving her father, Emmanuel Odiniya.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command later confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Odiniya, Ilebaye’s father, in connection with the alleged assault. Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated that officers responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, reporting ongoing violence at a residence. The official statement from the FCT Police Command detailed that on Saturday, May 9, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers were deployed after receiving a distress call about a physical assault on Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel by her father, Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya. Access to the residence was initially delayed due to a locked gate but was eventually forced open at about 2:30 a.m.
Upon gaining entry, Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya was found with visible bruises and was rescued alongside her brothers. She was then rushed to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, where she received essential medical attention. The FCT Police Command confirmed that Emmanuel Odiniya remains in custody while investigations into the incident are ongoing. Further updates emerged from fellow reality star Phyna, who had also reached out to the police for urgent intervention. Phyna later alleged that the police had released Ilebaye’s father and returned two younger siblings to him, raising questions about the handling of the case.
This incident comes as a shock to many, as Ilebaye had recently been in the news for positive milestones, including the launch of her “Baye Empire” hotel project. Her rise to national prominence began when she emerged as the winner of the 2023 Big Brother Naija All-Stars edition, a special season that brought back former housemates to compete for the top prize. Ilebaye, known for her engaging gameplay and personality, steadily garnered public support throughout the competition, ultimately securing her title as champion and joining the list of BBNaija winners who have attracted significant media attention and fan following.
