Barcelona Rocked by Key Injury Ahead of Epic El Clásico Showdown!
)
Barcelona is facing a significant setback ahead of the highly anticipated El Clásico match against Real Madrid, as star forward Raphinha has officially been ruled out due to an injury setback. The 28-year-old Brazilian international, who was a pivotal player for Barcelona last season with an impressive 59 goal contributions, including seven in El Clásico fixtures, will not be available for Sunday's crucial encounter. His absence comes as a major blow to Hansi Flick's squad.
Raphinha had been nursing a hamstring injury for approximately a month, and there was initial optimism regarding his recovery for the El Clásico. The club had even shared updates on social media indicating his return to training. However, reports emerged on Friday confirming an unfortunate injury setback, effectively sidelining him from the game. Barcelona assistant coach Marcus Sorg subsequently confirmed Raphinha's unavailability, acknowledging the significant void he would leave in the squad, stating that "Any team would miss Raphinha."
Adding to Barcelona's injury concerns, Ferran Torres was also injured but had been expected to make a return for El Clásico. Marcus Sorg indicated that a fitness test would be necessary to determine Torres's availability, stating, "As for Ferran, we are going to decide tomorrow," as reported by Football Espana. The potential absence or delayed return of Torres further complicates Barcelona's attacking options for the crucial match against their arch-rivals.
Meanwhile, the upcoming El Clásico also carries an off-field subplot involving Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal and Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal. Carvajal is reportedly planning to address Yamal following controversial comments the young player recently made concerning Los Blancos, adding an extra layer of intrigue and tension to the rivalry surrounding the match.
