Bad Bunny Under Fire for Museum Artifact Incident

Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny recently garnered attention and criticism from Mexico City’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) after sharing photographs of himself touching a historical artifact. The incident occurred on December 17 when the 31-year-old musician visited the museum and posted several images on his Instagram Stories, one of which depicted his hand resting on a stele engraved with ancient insignia.
On Saturday, December 27, the INAH issued a public statement via social media platform X, confirming Bad Bunny's interaction with the artifact. The institute unequivocally stated that “physical contact with archaeological goods is prohibited.” They clarified that museum custody personnel were present during the entirety of Bad Bunny's visit. Upon observing the artist placing his hand on the stele, staff promptly reminded him of the strict rules against touching exhibits, and the musician complied by immediately removing his hand.
This museum visit coincided with the Mexican segment of Bad Bunny’s “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” tour, which concluded its run at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City from December 10 to December 21. Following this period, Bad Bunny is set for an exceptionally busy year, with extensive touring plans across Latin America, Europe, and Australia.
A significant highlight of his upcoming schedule includes headlining the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. This monumental performance is slated for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Expressing his profound feelings about this opportunity, Bad Bunny stated, “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself… This is for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
Adding to his packed agenda, just one week before his Super Bowl appearance, on February 1, Bad Bunny is a leading nominee at the 68th annual Grammy Awards. He is competing for prestigious accolades including album of the year, record of the year, and song of the year, marking a truly prominent period in his career.
