The Joy FM Back-to-School Fair, a two-day event held from Friday, September 4 to Saturday, September 5, at the Joy FM Car Park in Kokomlemle, Accra, concluded successfully, assisting parents, guardians, and students in their preparations for the new academic year. Specifically designed to make back-to-school shopping convenient and affordable, the 2026 edition of the fair attracted large crowds and maintained a buzzing, lively atmosphere throughout its operating hours from 8 am to 8 pm each day.
Families thronged the venue, exploring numerous stands that offered a vast array of products at competitive prices and special discounts. Shoppers had the opportunity to complete all their back-to-school preparations in one convenient location, moving between vendors to compare products and prices. The comprehensive selection included essential school supplies such as books, stationery, school bags, shoes, and clothing. Beyond these conventional items, the fair also featured electronics, sanitary products, groceries, and other household essentials, providing a holistic shopping experience.
A major highlight and main sponsor of the event was Compu Ghana, the technology retailer, which significantly contributed by offering discounts of up to 40% on selected electronics and home appliances. These included laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, routers, headphones, power banks, and small fridges, with promotional offers extending until September 20 on certain products. The fair also boasted a strong lineup of other participating vendors. Kingdom Books & Stationery Limited, Paddington Publications Limited, Universal Knowledge Kingdom Limited, SalJay Bookshop, Afram Publications Ghana Limited, and Challenge Bookshop provided a wide range of textbooks, writing materials, and other learning resources. For children's clothing, footwear, and accessories, Prestige Children’s Palace and BeGerts Kids were present.
Furthermore, the fair extended its offerings beyond traditional school supplies with vendors like Flow Glow Impact showcasing sanitary products, Zonzoom Limited offering groceries, and Media Brain Consult participating with Kivo products. Unilever Ghana Limited enriched the consumer goods section with brands such as Pepsodent, Lipton, Royco, and Blue Band. An educational component was also a key feature, with Shsonline.com promoting virtual academic courses and remedial programmes, while Sonrise Christian High School engaged prospective students and parents, even offering instant admission opportunities during the event.
Many parents and guardians expressed their satisfaction with the fair, describing it as a highly convenient way to complete their back-to-school shopping. The availability of diverse products at competitive prices, all under one roof, was a recurring point of praise. One parent, encouraged by a recommendation from a first-day attendee, was particularly impressed by the affordability and convenience, finding the experience even better than expected.
The event also served as a valuable platform for participating businesses and brands. It allowed them to engage directly with prospective customers, demonstrate their products, and build relationships with families during the peak back-to-school shopping period. Conceived partly to alleviate the stress and financial burden associated with preparing children for a new academic year, the fair successfully achieved its objective.
As the 2026 edition concluded, Joy FM extended its gratitude to Compu Ghana, all participating vendors, parents, guardians, students, buyers, and the wider public whose patronage and involvement were instrumental in making the event a resounding success for the 2026/2027 academic year.
