Babcock University Battles Carter Efe Over Alleged Forged Certificate

Babcock University has publicly distanced itself from a certificate circulating online, allegedly linked to content creator and comedian Carter Efe. The institution labeled the document as fraudulent, clarifying its position in a public statement released on Monday, June 29. The purported “Honorary Certificate” claimed to award Oderohiwo Joseph Efe a “First Class Upper,” a classification which the university emphatically stated does not exist within its academic structure.

According to Babcock University, it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate academic performance. Furthermore, it explicitly stated that its highest academic classification is “First Class Honours,” not “First Class Upper” as depicted on the alleged certificate. The university urged the public, including employers and other institutions, to disregard the document and to verify all academic credentials directly through its Office of the Registrar. The statement also warned that the university would pursue appropriate legal action against anyone found forging or misrepresenting its academic credentials.

In response to the university's announcement and the threat of legal action, Carter Efe addressed the situation during a recent livestream. Speaking directly to the university, he jokingly claimed he had heard they were looking for him. “I hear say una dey find me. Una no go see me until una pay ₦100,000 ticket for me. Una no go see me,” he quipped. He also added that he and his team would be visiting Babcock University soon, suggesting a playful defiance amidst the serious allegations.
