Avatar Experience is an upcoming themed "land" themed after James Cameron's successful Avatar franchise being developed for Disney California Adventure.
On February 8, 2023, it was announced that an Avatar-themed attraction would be coming to the Disneyland Resort as revealed by Disney CEO Bob Iger following the success of Avatar: The Way of Water. However, details remained unclear of what type of attraction it would be.[1]
On November 13, 2023, at the IAAPA 2023, it was originally revealed by Imagineer Chris Beatty that the Avatar-themed attraction would be coming to Disney California Adventure during a Lunch and Learn Event. However, Disney did not announce the exact location of the Avatar-themed attraction coming to the Disneyland Resort.[2] Despite this, the company reneged on whether it was reported that it would be located in California Adventure and instead it would come to Disneyland instead.
On March 5, 2024, it was later announced that the attraction would be a themed "land" coming to Disneyland where it would serve as the California counterpart of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom located in Florida, making it the first time a new Avatar addition was classed as a themed "land".[3]
