SYDNEY -- The leaders of China and Australia touted a sustained improvement in their bilateral ties as they held a rare face-to-face meeting on Tuesday, while highlighting emerging opportunities for cooperation on the decarbonization of iron ore mining and steel production.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke to reporters after sitting down with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, identifying decarbonization as an area with "potential for new engagement."
