Aubrey Plaza is back at the Cannes Film Festival with the detctive film “Honey Don’t!” She stars alongside Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans. For the film’s premiere on Friday, Plaza went sheer in a Miu Miu dress covered in crystal embellishments. But for the photo call on Saturday morning, she went more casual.
For the daytime event, Plaza chose a short, mini-skort from Self-Portrait and a sheer blouse. She punctuated the dark style with a pair of angular black sunglasses. Her skort was made of houndstooth and included front welt pockets.
For shoes, Plaza kept up the casual aesthetic in a pair of cream Prada sandals, which featured a strap across the ball of the foot while the rest was exposed. Around the ankle is another simple strap. The sole features a rounded toe. The black sole sports and bold gold emblem from Prada.
Cannes has become known internationally for its fashion as much as its films. While the red carpets boast couture with elaborate, often custom gowns, daytime photocalls are more laid back affairs. Celebrities wear sneakers, shirts and more to these events while they would not be allowed to don those pieces for the red carpets because of the event’s dress code.
This year, before the Cannes red carpet began, the organizers updated their dress code, prohibiting nudity as well as “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.”
For years, celebrities have bucked the rules at Cannes. Most prominently, women have critiqued the festival mandating them to wear high heels.
