Arrests Made in Connection to Robbery, Kidnapping and Cult Killings

In Ogun State, the police have apprehended three suspected cultists in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, amidst renewed cult clashes that have claimed at least four lives in Abeokuta. According to Daily Trust, the clashes occurred on Saturday between the rival Eiye and Aye confraternities in the Alogi, Somorin, and Obantoko areas of Abeokuta. The arrested individuals in Ilaro include 23-year-old Adebowale Idowu, 25-year-old Oke Ela, and 27-year-old Abiodun Segun. They were driving an unregistered black Lexus RX330 along the Ilaro/Oja-Odan Road when they were stopped and searched. Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.
Separately, in Edo State, police have arrested three suspects, Jamilu Idris (20), Usman Shuaibu (24), and Yahuza Usman (20), for armed robbery and kidnapping. The suspects were apprehended on March 16 in Estako West LGA through a collaboration between the police and vigilantes. CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, stated that the suspects were arrested during a stop and search in Aviele along Abumere by a power line by operatives of the Agbede police division. A search of the suspects yielded one English-made Beretta pistol, one dagger, and an Infinix phone. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are part of a syndicate involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and motorcycle snatching in the area.
