Aprilia has officially launched the new SR 175 scooter in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.26 lakh. Positioned as a replacement for the SR 160, the SR 175 arrives with more power, a refreshed design, and upgraded features—targeting performance-focused buyers in the sporty scooter segment.

The biggest upgrade is under the skin. The SR 175 is powered by a larger 174.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with a three-valve setup. This motor delivers 12.92 hp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, up from the SR 160’s 11.27 hp and 13.44 Nm. Aprilia has achieved this performance boost by increasing the engine's bore.

While the new model retains much of the SR 160’s aggressive styling, it gets updated aesthetics inspired by the RS 457 sport bike. Two new paint options—white with red accents and purple with red—add to the visual appeal, placing the SR 175 in direct competition with rivals like the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155.

Another key highlight is the addition of a colour TFT display, a unit similar in layout to the one seen on the RS 457 and Tuono 457. Though the interface and animations differ, it offers Bluetooth connectivity via the Aprilia app, allowing for smartphone pairing, call alerts and music control.

Mechanically, the SR 175 remains familiar. It shares the same frame, suspension setup, and braking hardware as the outgoing SR 160. The scooter rolls on 14-inch alloy wheels shod with wide 120-section tires. Braking duties are handled by a front disc brake with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake.
