APM's Power Play: Crucial Talks With Lawmakers Underway, Senator Onawo Joins

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has officially confirmed ongoing discussions with a diverse group of political figures, including serving senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other prominent leaders nationwide. These talks are geared towards potential defections to the APM in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Yusuf, released a statement on Thursday to address the increasing inquiries from both members and supporters regarding these developments.

This announcement coincides with the formal reception of Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, who now represents the Nasarawa South Senatorial District. Senator Onawo recently made the significant move from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APM. His reception took place at the APM’s national secretariat in Abuja, where he was welcomed by the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, alongside other high-ranking party officials. Senator Onawo brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and as a member of the House of Representatives.

During the reception, National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle reiterated the APM's unwavering commitment to its core principle, the “Nigeria First” slogan. He expressed strong confidence in the party’s ability to be a formidable contender in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Dantalle also outlined the party's strategic efforts to broaden its membership base through continuous engagement with elected lawmakers and various political stakeholders across the country.

In response, Senator Onawo pledged his full loyalty to the Allied People’s Movement. He committed to working collaboratively with the party's leadership to fortify its structures within Nasarawa State and to actively support its electoral aspirations leading up to the 2027 polls. Furthermore, the APM extended its gratitude to its supporters nationwide and reaffirmed its endorsement of Seyi Makinde as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
